Project Decsription
The project is a proposed new residual waste to energy facility on an existing green field site. The building is to consists of a tipping hall, waste bunker, boiler hall, flue gas treatment hall and turbine hall.
The construction systems are a proposed mixture of reinforced concrete and structural steel for the main building elements.
MMOS Role
Murphy Matson O’Sullivan are the consulting engineers for the proposed project as part of a design build team, employed by John Sisk & Sons Limited the civil’s contractor. The process design and operation is being undertaken by Hitachi Zosen Inova, a Swiss based EFW technology company.
Murphy Matson O’Sullivan consulting engineers are currently involved in the value engineering design of the structure. We produce structural engineering and civil engineering drawings for Sisk’s to facilitate a cost effective tender being submitted. We provided value to the tender bid and ultimately assisted John Sisk’s & Sons ltd. to win the tender.
The building is constructed on piled foundations with a reinforced concrete suspended ground floor slab. The construction involves the excavation of a 6.5m deep waste bunker with rising reinforced concrete frame 28m above this level.
